Josef Wieser at Expo 2025

. . . . . . . . .
During a trip to Japan in the Autumn of 2024 for a tour of the six ancient kilns, Josef Wieser was among a select group of artisans invited to visit and present his work at the Austrian Embassy in Tokyo. The visit had been organised by Meisterstrasse, who promote Austrian crafts worldwide. An honour indeed, not only because Josef’s remarkable woodfired ceramics have always been heavily influenced by traditional Japanese aesthetics, but even more so, as he also heard that he would be invited to present a representative selection of his work at the Austrian Pavillon of the World Exhibition in Osaka from April to October this year. Congratulations Josef!
In 2026, Josef Wieser will also have a major solo exhibition in Langerwehe, Germany. You can read my article on Josef on this website, published in the international ceramics journal New Ceramics/Neue Keramik.
